Daren Streblow was born in Ely,
Minnesota in 1971 and the world has yet to fully recover. As
a child with an extraordinary imagination, Daren's hobbies
included running away from home, stopping traffic wearing a
super hero cape, sneaking into neighbor's houses to play
with their toys, and lighting campfires in the basement.
-
Daren had been married for only
a year when he felt God leading him to be a stand-up
comedian. He figured that this was not something that
God regularly leads people to do; but it was a clear
message to Daren and he knew he should pay attention.
The more Daren began to think about the calling, and the
more he looked at the raw talents that God had apparently
instilled in him, the more he knew that comedy was what he
was to do with his life. Daren dedicated
his talents to God, started writing and honing his act, and
moved into full time comedy in 1998. And he has been
going strong ever since.
-
Daren made the wonderful
discovery that comedy opens the heart for the seed of the
gospel. He found that comedy builds a bond of trust
between the comedian and the audience, and this trust makes
an excellent means to plant the seed of the gospel.
Daren is passionate about evangelism and has taken the title
of the "Outreach Comedian".
-
Daren graduated from Beaver River
Christian School in 1989 as Valedictorian-from a class with
a total of six students. He then attended both the College
of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
-
Knowing exactly what he wanted to do with his life, Daren
studied physical therapy, computer science, psychology,
engineering, and financial management systems. Finally, he
graduated from UMD with a degree in Communications.
-
Daren's love for Christian music led him to join the
staff of KDNW radio in Duluth at the youthful age of 16. He
went full time in 1995 and was the host of the weekday
afternoon "Goin' Home" program until 1998.
